Chapter 766 — Negotiation Shu

The Blossom Guardian

"Two million? That little?" Shen Yushu spoke up. She was thinking — she couldn't have come for nothing; it was time to put Negotiation Shu's talents to use! Only she didn't actually know the first thing about negotiating. Calling herself Negotiation Shu that morning had been nothing but bluff; in truth, she had just come along for the fun of it.

"Of course, two million is only the figure we've put forward. If you feel it isn't appropriate, we're perfectly open to discussion." Su Jiaonang had never expected that, before Mama Tang could get a word out, Shen Yushu would speak first!

Still, at this moment he held fast to one principle: whatever demands the other side raised, steady them first — and wait. Once Zhang Yuzhou had the time bomb in place, everything would be grand.

"Surely you ought to offer two hundred million at least?" Shen Yushu thought a moment, then suddenly recalled a line she often heard on television — name a sky-high price and haggle it down on the spot — so she threw out the figure of two hundred million straight away, and Su Jiaonang was so frightened his eyes rolled back in his head.

Two hundred million? Why didn't she just go and rob a bank? Two hundred million — wasn't that a bit much? Was that a bungalow she was talking about, or a tower?

Zhao Qibing too frowned. Though he had already decided he could grant a few of Wei Zhao and the others' unreasonable demands in moderation, that didn't mean he could go wildly off the mark? Two hundred million? What kind of joke was that? Even if he agreed, Wei Zhao would never believe it — he would suspect his motives instead!

So Zhao Qibing could only say: "Little miss, that price of yours is rather insincere, isn't it?"

"It isn't! I heard your tower went bang and collapsed, and you didn't care a bit — you even built another one!" Shen Yushu blinked and said: "A tower like that must be worth at least a hundred million, isn't it? So two hundred million is not too much at all!"

Zhao Qibing's eyes went wide. What in the world was this? Two completely different things! And 'your tower went bang and collapsed' — as if he had wanted it to collapse! If it weren't for that scoundrel Wei Zhao, how could his tower have collapsed?

Zhao Qibing gnashed his teeth with fury, wishing he could bite Wei Zhao dead in one snap.

"An entire tower is only worth a hundred million, and your little bungalow — is it a house of gold and silver? Worth two hundred million?" Zhao Qibing frowned.

Beside them, Mama Tang's eyes had gone wide too. Were these two here to negotiate? This was plainly sabotage! If they angered the man in a moment and he refused to pay a single cent, what then?

But Wei Zhao wasn't speaking just then, and Mama Tang had no way to speak up either; she could only pray to herself — two million would be good enough, don't let even the two million fall through!

"If your tower collapses once more, wouldn't that make two hundred million?" Shen Yushu counted on her fingers: "When is your tower going to collapse again? Whatever you do, don't forget to call me over to have a look."

"What kind of arithmetic is that?" Zhao Qibing was beside himself with anger; he very nearly demanded to know whether Shen Yushu had come here to make trouble. Only, the instant he remembered that the people before him would soon be blown to bits by the bomb, he grew cheerful all over again.

"Oh? Then how much can you pay?" Shen Yushu couldn't be bothered talking to him any longer — not the least bit fun.

"Three million — that is the limit we can bear!" Zhao Qibing held up three fingers and said. He naturally couldn't hand Wei Zhao that much of a windfall all at once; he had to stall for as much time as possible, waiting for Zhang Yuzhou to set the time bomb.

"Such a miser. No wonder your tower collapsed. Keep this up and your tower will collapse again before long." All Shen Yushu could think about was towers collapsing, so towers collapsing was all she talked about.

"Even if it collapses, it's no concern of yours." Zhao Qibing seethed with rage inside: you little wench, what a wicked heart — why do you keep wishing for my tower to collapse? What good would it do you?

Of course, had Zhao Qibing known that Shen Yushu only wanted the tower to collapse so she could watch the spectacle, who knows whether he would have died on the spot of sheer fury?

Mama Tang's heart gave a leap — three million! In this short while the offer had gone up by another million! Surely not? This way of negotiating actually produced results? Mama Tang was somewhat astonished. Was this really how the rich negotiated? Was she simply too ignorant? Was Shen Yushu actually helping their family?

By now Mama Tang had no more doubts either. No matter what methods Shen Yushu used, so long as she talked the compensation up, it didn't matter one bit what she said!

"Oh, Brother Shield — he'll only give three million. I can't do any more, you're up!" Shen Yushu felt that dragging an extra million out of it was already quite something.

Only, Shen Yushu's words carried a certain ambiguity?

"I can't do any more — you're up!"

Wei Zhao broke into a sweat at once. Why did it keep sounding like an innuendo about that sort of thing?

Gu Mengyao too seemed to catch something improper in it, but with Tang Yun and Tang Yun's mother both present, she couldn't very well say anything.

If Gu Mengyao could hear it, Tang Yun naturally could as well. She glanced at Shen Yushu, wondering whether she meant it or was merely being careless. Tang Yun kept feeling that Shen Yushu was nothing at all like the silly girl she appeared on the surface — that there was calculation behind her. Of course, Tang Yun had found no evidence either; on the face of it, Shen Yushu was indeed nothing but a silly girl.

"Oh, all right. I'm up." Wei Zhao pretended not to have caught a thing, and said.

But Mama Tang's mind was nowhere near this; her attention was entirely on that extra million, and she had no thought to spare for anything else.

The same held for Zhao Qibing, Li Cihua and Su Jiaonang — their attention was fixed on holding Wei Zhao and the rest steady, so as to buy Zhang Yuzhou enough time over there.

"Enough, Zhao Qibing — stop adding a million at a time. Name your bottom line." Wei Zhao had no idea what game Zhao Qibing was playing, so he had no idea what Zhao Qibing's bottom line was either.

Even now, Wei Zhao still could not quite make out what Zhao Qibing had brought him here for!

Was it merely to pay compensation for the demolition of Tang Yun's home? Wei Zhao didn't believe it — not unless Zhao Qibing had water for brains, and Li Cihua and Su Jiaonang did too!

Besides, Zhao Qibing had raised the compensation from two million to three million without the slightest effort; so it seemed the figure could still go on climbing?

"Five million. That is my bottom line," Zhao Qibing said. "However, I have a condition of my own!"

"What condition?" Wei Zhao frowned. Had they finally reached the true reason Zhao Qibing had sought him out?

"Keep your hands off the demolition of the shantytown. I'll give you five million. You can take a portion of that money yourself and compensate some of your closer neighbors — but do not obstruct our company's demolition plan!" Zhao Qibing deliberated a moment, then spoke with the utmost gravity.
