Chapter 1052 — Five Million Down the Drain

The Blossom Guardian

Damn it! Since he had already handed over five million, another five million hardly mattered. Little Feng, I have sunk a fortune into you today — you had better build up my image for me! Whether I can win Sun Jingyan depends on you!

Wu Chengtian gritted his teeth. "Fine — then get me a card!"

"Certainly, sir, this way please!" Hearing Wu Chengtian change his mind again, the waiter was overjoyed — and a little envious of Feng Xiaoxiao besides. This Wu Chengtian really was a landed tyrant, rich beyond reckoning! Five million spent on a whim!

In truth, a VIP card did not have to cost five million; the minimum was a million, though that came without any discount. But Wu Chengtian had flaunted his wealth the moment he walked in, and so the waiter had gone straight for the highest tier of membership card.

"Xiaoxiao, go along and get it done!" Wu Chengtian's heart was bleeding, but having put his hand to the plough, he might as well finish the furrow — he had already promised Feng Xiaoxiao, so now he had no choice but to let her go and do it. Wu Chengtian rather regretted it. Had he known how this would go, he would simply have nodded and agreed from the start; then the card would still have been his. As things stood, after a few wasted words, the card had become Feng Xiaoxiao's.

Five million gone for nothing! In the space of a few minutes' show, ten million had flown out the door. This Feng Xiaoxiao — did she really think he was that rich?

And yet... apparently, in her mind, he truly was that rich. Otherwise, would Feng Xiaoxiao worship him so? Would she keep putting in a good word for him before Sun Jingyan?

In fact, had Sun Jingyan not been present, and had Feng Xiaoxiao not been Wei Zhao's girlfriend, then given how thoroughly she worshipped him, Wu Chengtian would long ago have dragged her into a hotel room and onto a bed. But right now, he did not dare.

For one thing, Sun Jingyan was here, and he dared not do anything that might make her suspicious and disgusted; for another, if he slept with Feng Xiaoxiao, Wei Zhao would have all the more reason to get close to Sun Jingyan. Then the man would push Feng Xiaoxiao his way, tell Sun Jingyan about it, and the two of them would have paired off — and Wu Chengtian would be the one bleeding.

Sun Jingyan watched Wu Chengtian's idiocy and sneered inwardly. With that sort of ability, you want to court me? Dream on! At last she understood how formidable Feng Xiaoxiao was. How long had it been? Wu Chengtian had already sunk ten million.

Wei Zhao had long known Feng Xiaoxiao's nature. She belonged squarely to the sort who brought misfortune on whoever crossed her path; apart from never fleecing Wei Zhao, she fleeced anyone she took a disliking to, and never missed.

After the card was done, Feng Xiaoxiao came back with the waiter, beaming. Wu Chengtian transferred the money again, wounded to the depths of his soul.

Luckily, Feng Xiaoxiao flattered him a few more times, and Wu Chengtian's heart bloomed once more.

This five-million meal card had landed in Feng Xiaoxiao's hands, and she would not squander it. She meant to make it last. By her reckoning, even at her unluckiest she could live another month or two — and for those one or two months, lunch and dinner were taken care of. The thought filled Feng Xiaoxiao with boundless joy.

Naturally, it could not all be spent in a single day! So Feng Xiaoxiao waved a hand and said, "The private room at the Crystal Palace is rather too big for the four of us — far too empty. Let's switch to a smaller one."

Hearing this, Wu Chengtian nearly spat blood. A five-million card was in hand — and now, before they had even gone up to sample the Crystal Palace's VIP treatment, she wanted to switch to a smaller room?

True, the Crystal Palace no longer had a minimum charge, but ordering only ten or twenty thousand worth of food would still look shabby. Feng Xiaoxiao, being one to pinch every penny of what fell into her hands, simply wanted a smaller room: the less spent, the better, and to her that was fine.

Wu Chengtian wanted to argue, but feared that once he opened his mouth Feng Xiaoxiao would take offence and refuse to play along with his showing off at the meal. So he forcibly swallowed the words on the tip of his tongue and, thoroughly sullen, said instead, "Fine, a smaller room it is. Fewer people, more peace."

"Very good, sir!" The waiter no longer cared. A five-million card had been bought; wherever the guests wished to go was all the same to her. That five million was certain to be spent here — whether they ate this time or not hardly mattered.

Once they were in the room, the waiter produced the menu and invited Wu Chengtian to order.

"Jingyan, Xiaoxiao, Brother Wei Zhao — what would you like to eat?" Wu Chengtian opened the menu, his eyes roving over the expensive delicacies. Five million had been spent, and it bought only this one meal; naturally he must order plenty of good things and enjoy himself. It was his own money, after all!

Many of those delicacies Wu Chengtian had never tasted, and he meant to sample every one of them today. Even if he did not spend the whole five million, he had to spend three million — otherwise he would have lost out terribly.

Feng Xiaoxiao, card in hand, saw that Wu Chengtian meant to order the expensive dishes and grew a little nervous. She wanted the money to last; she had no intention of blowing through it in a single day.

Wei Zhao glanced at Feng Xiaoxiao and nearly laughed, but he spoke up anyway: "Let's skip the seafood. Xiaoxiao is allergic — last time, after we ate seafood in Yanjing, she had a reaction on the way home."

At these words, Feng Xiaoxiao, thrilled, gave him a thumbs-up under the table! Her husband Wei Zhao was a godsend! She had been wondering how to make Wu Chengtian order less, and Wei Zhao had stepped in to help!

No wonder that girl Shen Yushu was always clinging to Wei Zhao — his talent for tormenting people was second to none!

"Ah?" Wu Chengtian was briefly taken aback, and his face turned bitter. No seafood either? Then what expensive dishes were left? In a restaurant, the priciest dishes almost all had something to do with seafood; ruling that out cut more than half of them away!

"It's early in the day — let's have something light. Skip all that rich meat and fish," said Sun Jingyan. She was shrewd enough to see right through Feng Xiaoxiao. Since Wei Zhao had spoken up for her, Sun Jingyan was happy to help her fleece Wu Chengtian a little more.

Sun Jingyan already counted herself one of Wei Zhao's crowd. As for Wu Chengtian? Let him go play by himself.

"All right, all right — whatever Jingyan says!" The moment Sun Jingyan spoke, Wu Chengtian forgot all about indulging his palate and hurriedly handed her the menu. To his mind, filling his belly was a trifle; the great matter was that Sun Jingyan eat happily.
