Chapter 1191 — You Know Him? Hearing Shen Yushu's Words, Er Gou Dan Was at Once Left Speechless — This Dog Can Talk? Had This Girl Watched Too Many Cartoons?

The Blossom Guardian

Wei Zhao was cultivating at that moment and paid no mind to matters in the courtyard. Wei Zhao of course knew that Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu were training the lion out there, and that there was no danger in it; should danger arise, Weiwu Jiangjun would surely give the alarm at the first instant.

Hearing Weiwu Jiangjun's bark, Wei Zhao hurriedly broke off his cultivation and came back to the waking world. Before Weiwu Jiangjun could even come inside, he strode quickly out of the villa and met the general head-on.

"What is it?" Wei Zhao asked as he walked, but by the look of things the courtyard held no danger such as he had imagined — it appeared that neither of those two girls, Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu, had come to any harm.

"Brother Jianpai, some country bumpkin's turned up here, looking to make trouble for you!" Shen Yushu said, pointing at Er Gou Dan.

"Looking to make trouble for me?" Wei Zhao was slightly taken aback. He raised his head and looked where Shen Yushu was pointing — and froze on the spot.

"Huh? Boss?" Er Gou Dan's eyes went wide as well, staring at Wei Zhao in disbelief. Never in his wildest dreams had he thought he would lay eyes on Wei Zhao here.

"Er Gou Dan? You're here?" Wei Zhao was caught between laughter and tears. Er Gou Dan must have come looking for him and failed to explain himself properly, and so Shen Yushu had taken him for someone out to make trouble.

"Boss, I've finally found you!" Er Gou Dan was beside himself with excitement. He ran straight over and seized Wei Zhao in a hug. "Boss, wonderful! I've finally seen you!"

Wei Zhao naturally assumed that Er Gou Dan had simply followed the address Old Man Wei had given him; how could he have guessed that Er Gou Dan had actually come looking for the lion? So Wei Zhao believed — but Shen Yushu and Gu Mengyao watched the scene with no little astonishment, at a loss as to what had happened.

"What's going on here?" Gu Mengyao looked at Wei Zhao and Er Gou Dan in puzzlement. Did these two know each other from before?

"Oh, I told you so — anyone who sets eyes on Brother Jianpai is bound to submit! Sister Yao, see? Didn't I call it? I'm a regular prophet, I am!" Shen Yushu said, not without a touch of smugness.

"..." Gu Mengyao was somewhat speechless, though she had to admit that Shen Yushu's sixth sense was really rather sharp...

"By the way, why did it take you so many days to get here? The old man said you set out days ago." Wei Zhao asked, rather puzzled. He knew Er Gou Dan was no weakling and unlikely to have run into trouble, but the delay was so long that he wondered whether the man had met with some mishap.

"Boss, the moment I got off the train, a woman swindler cheated me..." Er Gou Dan said with a sour face. "Not only was my money gone, she made off with the address too... so I couldn't find you..."

"Oh? Then how did you find me? Did you track down that swindler woman?" Wei Zhao was taken aback; he had not expected Er Gou Dan to have such an adventure, cheated the very moment he stepped off the train! Then again, Er Gou Dan being cheated was hardly a strange thing — the man had never seen the wider world, and it was his first time away from home; anyone could take him in.

"No, I came here to settle accounts with the lion, and then I ran into you, Boss!" Er Gou Dan said, and suddenly froze. "Boss, you're not... you're not this dog's boss, are you?"

"Dog?" Wei Zhao blinked, followed the direction of Er Gou Dan's finger, and saw Weiwu Jiangjun. He laughed. "I suppose I am..."

"Uh... I see..." Er Gou Dan was instantly in a quandary. If the dog belonged to anyone else, Er Gou Dan would not have said another word — you want to stick your neck out for it, fine, one punch and you're dead! But facing Wei Zhao, his boss, how would he dare raise a hand? He wanted to settle accounts for Mother Yu's sake, but he could hardly settle those accounts on his own boss.

"By the way, you said you came to settle accounts with the lion — what was that about?" Wei Zhao recalled Er Gou Dan's earlier words and asked.

"Well, it's like this, I..." Er Gou Dan held nothing back, and recounted the whole affair from first to last.

"You mean you beat up both of the skilled hands at Gou Huli's house?" Wei Zhao was caught between laughter and tears at Er Gou Dan's tale. He and Uncle Qing had once studied the two experts the Xiao family had sent; Wei Zhao was confident he could fight the external-school expert at the peak of the late Xuan stage to a draw across ranks, but he had no absolute certainty of defeating him. And yet Er Gou Dan had settled the whole matter just like that — quite beyond Wei Zhao's expectations.

"Yes. I didn't want to hit him at first, but the old man begged me to beat him, said his own skin was itching. I had no choice but to give him a thrashing! But I went a little too hard, and broke his leg..." Er Gou Dan scratched his scalp, embarrassed.

"It wasn't his skin itching... his name really is Pi Yangyang..." Wei Zhao felt boundless sympathy for Pi Yangyang. The man had been shot while lying down — even his name got him beaten. How unlucky could a fellow be? Wei Zhao had long since learned Pi Yangyang's name from Uncle Qing, and so grasped the crux of it at once.

"Hahahaha!" Shen Yushu doubled over with laughter. "Pi Yangyang... I'm dying... you took it for 'skin itching'..."

And beside her, Gu Mengyao too was caught between laughter and tears. Pi Yangyang — how had the man come by such a name?

"Huh? His name is Pi Yangyang?" Only after Wei Zhao's explanation did Er Gou Dan catch on. "So he wasn't 'skin itching'? What a mess this is. I really owe him an apology..."

"He didn't fight back?" Wei Zhao glanced at Er Gou Dan, his expression somewhat odd. That Er Gou Dan could break Pi Yangyang's leg, Wei Zhao believed; but to break it with no resistance at all — how strange was that? Could Pi Yangyang really have let Er Gou Dan beat him without striking back?

"No, he kept guarding his own body the whole time..." Er Gou Dan said.

"You really were lucky." Wei Zhao shook his head with a bitter smile. Yet he felt not the slightest guilt over Pi Yangyang's injury. Hurt was hurt; it had little to do with him anyway.

"Brother Jianpai, you know him? Is he your underling?" From the exchange between Wei Zhao and Er Gou Dan, Shen Yushu could tell they had known each other before, and seemed to be quite close.

"Yes, we've known each other a long time. We're from the same village, grew up playing together." Wei Zhao said, "Let me introduce you properly. Zhou Jiaming, nicknamed Er Gou Dan! Er Gou Dan, this is Gu Mengyao, my employer, and this is her best friend Shen Yushu..."

"Hello..." Er Gou Dan rubbed his hands together, embarrassed. This was his boss's employer? Just now he had shouted at them and even tried to frighten them. Would his boss be angry?
