Chapter 1242 — Prophet Shu Prophesies Again

The Blossom Guardian

"Really? He has a way to cure my illness?" The news brought Xu Shilan a flash of delighted surprise.

"Mm, the odds are very good!" Sister Wang nodded. "I spoke with Medicine King Zhao's manager today and told him about your situation. He agreed on the spot — said he was confident he could treat you!"

"You're sure he isn't a fraud?" Xu Shilan was not quite reassured.

"You still don't trust Sister Wang's eye?" Sister Wang laughed. "Whether a man has real skill, I can tell at a glance. As things stand, Medicine King Zhao has a solid reputation. His only fault is that he's a bit of a highway robber — his consultation fees are astronomical!"

"Astronomical or not, it makes no difference. The money I earn is of no use to me anyway — I'm alone, with nothing to hold me back." Xu Shilan had never set much store by money.

"I thought as much, so after careful consideration I've decided to take you there for treatment!" said Sister Wang. "But if you're going to Songshan City for medical treatment, you'll need a plausible excuse to cover it. There's no telling how long you may have to stay there, and if you don't want the entertainment reporters digging anything up, the only reason I can think of is holding a concert there! After all, we've no business engagements in Songshan City. Had I known, I'd have accepted that product launch for Dr. Guan Pharmaceuticals."

"So that's it — I was wondering why a concert had suddenly been arranged!" Only now did Xu Shilan understand what Sister Wang's earlier maneuvering had meant.

Songshan City might be a second-tier city, but in this day and age concerts in second-tier cities were hardly unheard of. So Xu Shilan's fans, after the initial shock, fell to envying the fans living around Songshan City.

Little Miss Chu, Little Miss Chen, and Little Miss Feng, eating the loving bowl of century egg and pork congee Wei Zhao had made and watching the morning entertainment news, all stared wide-eyed at once!

"Holy crap, Prophet Shu is scary good! Last night I was saying how great it would be if the concert were held here, and today it's confirmed!" Shen Yushu felt rather impressive — the night before, when they were chatting under the covers, they had talked about exactly this, and so Shen Yushu had prophesied once again.

"Oh?" Gu Mengyao gave Shen Yushu a doubtful look too. This girl's jinx of a mouth was uncannily accurate — time and again she had stumbled onto the truth by sheer luck.

Feng Xiaoxiao's expression was a little odd as well. She had long heard tales of Prophet Shu, and seeing it now, it really was a bit uncanny! There was something mysterious about all this. From the look of Shen Yushu, it was pure blind luck — a blind cat pouncing on a dead rat — but whether that was truly so, who could say?

"Xiaoshu, then prophesy for me — will I die?" Feng Xiaoxiao asked suddenly.

"Huh?" Shen Yushu was taken aback, then said, "No, you definitely won't die. From now on, our duo of mischief-makers is going to sweep the world — if you die, what am I supposed to do?"

"Haha, then let's hope your words bring luck!" Feng Xiaoxiao nodded. She had only asked offhandedly; even she did not quite believe she could live on. In her family, generations had passed, and no one had escaped the curse.

"All right, enough of death talk first thing in the morning. Are you finished? If you are, off to school," Wei Zhao said. "Uncle Qing is already here."

These past two days, once Uncle Qing had recovered his health, he had moved out. After all, an old man living with a houseful of young people was a little hard to get used to, and the company's affairs kept him busy — Gu Pengzhan often had social engagements at night, so there was no way Uncle Qing would be coming back to the villa in the small hours.

So things had returned to how they were before: Uncle Qing came every evening to deliver dinner, and in the morning drove to the villa to take Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu to school.

"All right, all right, one more mouthful!" Shen Yushu raised her bowl and drained it in a single breath.

"Wei Zhao, how are we going today?" Gu Mengyao glanced at Feng Xiaoxiao and asked.

Before, Wei Zhao had always driven himself to pick up Feng Xiaoxiao and Tang Yun for school, while Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu rode in Uncle Qing's car. But now that Feng Xiaoxiao had moved into the villa, Wei Zhao driving himself would be a needless complication; better that he and Feng Xiaoxiao should ride along too, and only stop to pick up Tang Yun.

Previously, Gu Mengyao, Shen Yushu, and Tang Yun had not been especially close, and Tang Yun had felt a little out of place after riding in their car a few times. But now, with Feng Xiaoxiao as the link between them, they got along far better — they had gone out together, and even slept together at night, so relations were naturally not what they once were.

Now even riding in the same car, Tang Yun felt no awkwardness.

"Then let's all ride in Uncle Qing's car, and pick Yunyun up on the way." Wei Zhao saw what the young mistress meant and nodded.

Feng Xiaoxiao looked at Uncle Qing's Bentley with some envy. "This car is really something. I'd love to drive it myself!"

Feng Xiaoxiao was a car lover, unlike the young mistress and Xiaoshu, who had no particular feeling for cars.

"Then how about you take over as driver?" Wei Zhao said with a smile.

Wei Zhao was much more easygoing now, no longer cautious about everything.

Ever since he had offered his resignation, Wei Zhao's relations with the young mistress, with Xiaoshu, and with Uncle Qing had all grown far more harmonious. Nominally he was still a bodyguard and attendant, but anyone could see that both Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu treated him as a friend.

Uncle Qing, for his part, regarded Wei Zhao as his savior, so he would never refuse any suggestion of Wei Zhao's: "Let Miss Feng drive?"

"Better not. The car is too big — I'm afraid I couldn't handle it!" Feng Xiaoxiao stuck out her tongue and sat obediently in the back.

"Wait till the weekend. Have Uncle Qing bring the car over, and we'll go somewhere open to practice," Wei Zhao said with a smile.

A Bentley — with Wei Zhao's current means, he could afford to pay for it even if it were smashed to pieces. And even if it were, Gu Pengzhan would never make Wei Zhao pay for it.

"Miss Gu, Mr. Lin, shall we go pick up Miss Tang?" Since Wei Zhao and Feng Xiaoxiao were riding in the car today too, Uncle Qing naturally thought of the question of Tang Yun, and asked as he started the engine.
