Chapter 1256 — Is She Ying Ziyu? Wei Zhao Did Not Drive Today, but Waited at the School Gate, Hailed a Taxi on the Spot, and Headed Straight for Fushan Middle School

The Blossom Guardian

On the way, Wei Zhao received a text message from Yang Huaijun, who had sent over Ying Ziyu's file together with her photograph.

"Wow, she's pretty cute. Hubby Wei Zhao, are you interested in her?" Feng Xiaoxiao looked at the delicate-featured girl on Wei Zhao's phone and asked with a grin.

"..." Wei Zhao was rendered briefly speechless. He gave Feng Xiaoxiao a glare. "She's just a girl. Why would I be interested?"

"Obviously that's an ID-card photo. If a证件 picture can come out this pretty, then in person she's bound to be prettier still!" Feng Xiaoxiao said.

"Not as pretty as you." Wei Zhao had no idea what else to say.

"Really, really, really?" At Wei Zhao's words, Feng Xiaoxiao's eyes instantly curved into crescent moons as she gazed at him, radiant with excitement and happiness.

"Really." Wei Zhao nodded.

"Then between me and Sister Tang Yun, and Sister Yaoyao and Xiaoshu, who is the prettiest?" Feng Xiaoxiao pressed on.

"All of them." Wei Zhao had no wish to start a war, though it was also simply the truth: there was no telling which of them was the better, for like spring flowers and the autumn moon each was the finest in her own way, each with her own particular charm, and force them into a single line and they became impossible to compare.

"Sigh, I knew you'd say that. Still, it's the fairest answer." Feng Xiaoxiao was not annoyed in the least. "I thought you'd say Sister Yunyun is the prettiest."

"Heh..." Wei Zhao shrugged and said no more.

Because they were in a taxi, Wei Zhao and Feng Xiaoxiao kept to no very private topics.

As they drew near Fushan Middle School, however, the driver pulled up at the roadside some distance off and said, "You two, I'll just leave the car here. I don't dare drive any closer — I don't want my car smashed..."

"Huh?" Wei Zhao blinked, taken aback. "What do you mean?"

"You're coming to Fushan Middle School and you don't know what Fushan Middle School is like?" The driver gave Wei Zhao and Feng Xiaoxiao an odd look.

"What, is there something wrong with this Fushan Middle School?" Wei Zhao was not a native of Songshan City and knew nothing of the school; as for Feng Xiaoxiao, she had spent only a short while in the middle-school division of No. 1 High School before transferring elsewhere, and in any case Fushan Middle School lay far from the city center — had Wei Zhao not raised the subject, she would never even have known that Songshan City had such a school.

"Fushan Middle School is the most lawless school in the whole city. The students in there smoke, drink, brawl, take drugs, sleep around — in short, it couldn't be any more rotten!" The driver shook his head. "It's a school for hooligans. The ones who come out of here end up either locked up or as worthless street thugs!"

"Huh?" A cold sweat broke out over Wei Zhao. No way — Ying Ziyu went to school here?

Smoking, drinking and fighting were one thing, but drugs and promiscuity? Dark lines of exasperation sprang out across Wei Zhao's brow.

"Are there no good students here? The ones who actually study?" Feng Xiaoxiao's expression was strange too, though she took it more easily — she had been a problem student herself, and had messed around on the streets.

"The good ones get corrupted as well!" The driver curled his lip. "Anyone who truly wants to study applied for a transfer to another school long ago. The ones still here have all brought it on themselves! I only dared bring you two because I could see you're students of No. 1 High School. If you'd been wearing a Fushan uniform, I wouldn't have picked you up at all! Not only would you not pay — you might beat me up and smash the car!"

"That bad!" Even as he marveled, Wei Zhao felt a pang of unease inside. She was, after all, his comrade's sister; if she really had sunk into drugs and promiscuity, he honestly did not know what he would do about it. He could force her into rehab, and yet he would go on feeling guilty.

"Anyway, enough of that — I'd better get moving. Look out for yourselves. Can't you see they've started fighting again over there? Don't know whether they're students or street thugs, but every one of them's got a machete or an iron bar!" The driver pointed toward the school gate of Fushan Middle School not far away.

"Thank you!" Wei Zhao nodded and got out of the car with Feng Xiaoxiao.

"Fushan Middle School... now that he mentions it, the name does ring a bell. Back when I was out on the streets, there really did seem to be some thugs who came from Fushan!" Feng Xiaoxiao thought back carefully and said.

"Never mind that. Let's see how Ying Ziyu is." Wei Zhao's steps were heavy; he did not know how he would treat a Ying Ziyu who had let her life rot.

The Wei Zhao of old would never have given such people the time of day; now, however, he had to face it.

Fushan Middle School looked utterly derelict. Its red-brick wall, of no one knew what age, was plastered with advertisements promising guaranteed cures for venereal disease and forged documents, along with little flyers for things like ketamine — more than enough to show how chaotic the place was.

Sure enough, two groups of students stood confronting each other at the school gate, every one of them gripping a machete or an iron bar; some were bare-chested, some shaved bald, some even tattooed. It might have been a gang showdown straight out of a mafia film.

Wei Zhao smiled bitterly. With these people blocking the gate, if he wanted to get through he would just have to wait until they finished fighting.

In Wei Zhao's eyes these people were nothing whatsoever; snuffing them out would be simpler than crushing ants. Still, he had not the slightest wish to meddle — their lives or their deaths had not a cent to do with him. The fewer such scum of society, the better.

And if they were not hacked to death, then come graduation they would simply be taken in by the likes of Zou Tiandi or Li Cihua, and become even bigger scum.

Wei Zhao took Feng Xiaoxiao's hand and stood to one side to watch the show.

"Ying Ziyu, you little slut, today I'm giving you two choices. First, you be my woman — your underlings will be my underlings from now on! Stay by my side and you'll eat the best and drink the best; anyone who sees you will respectfully call you the boss's lady! I guarantee you'll have it better than you do now!" At the head of one of the gangs blocking the gate of Fushan Middle School, a scar-faced man raised a gleaming machete and roared the words at the other gang.

"Pfft—" Wei Zhao's eyes flew wide open; as if someone had stepped on his tail, he very nearly leapt into the air. What? Ying Ziyu?

Following the direction the scar-faced man's machete was pointing, Wei Zhao saw a girl in a tight black outfit, a machete clutched in her hand just like the rest of them, while behind her stood a whole crowd of hooligan students armed with knives, spears and clubs — though clearly fewer in number than the scar-faced man's side.

No way? Wei Zhao studied the girl closely. Her figure was lithe and perfectly proportioned, her bosom swelling high — whether that was the work of a push-up bra or simply early development, he could not tell.
