Chapter 2331 — A Good Solution
"Good, good—I'll make the call right away..." Pi Zhishan, startled and overjoyed all at once, hurried to agree.
Over on his side, Wei Zhao had already taken hold of Old Master Pi's pulse gate. It was the first time Old Master Pi had ever been treated by Wei Zhao, and he was rather nervous; watching Wei Zhao, he asked cautiously, "Mr. Lin, is there anything I need to do? How should I cooperate with you?"
"Nothing at all. Just lie there." As he spoke, Wei Zhao once again circulated the second layer of the Xuanyuan Dragon-Taming Art and began healing Old Master Pi's injuries.
Old Master Pi did as he was told and did nothing at all. Before long, he felt a warm current flow into his body from the pulse gate; the current traveled along his meridians to the site of his injury and began to nourish the damaged flesh within him!
Very quickly, Old Master Pi could even feel his internal injuries healing as if by a miracle. The sensation left him utterly astonished—was this the legendary art of healing with true qi? But hadn't it been said that only the Sun family could do such a thing?
Why could Wei Zhao do it too? And the Sun family seemed limited in how many patients they could treat—only one person at a time—whereas Wei Zhao could heal many at once?
Old Master Pi's thoughts ran wild, and his heart was overcome with boundless shock. To himself he sighed in admiration: the Hidden Han family truly had sharp eyes. No wonder they had thrown in their lot with Wei Zhao so early! Nor were the Hidden Han family fools—if Wei Zhao had no real strength and ability, would they willingly have agreed to serve as his underlings?
And now Old Master Pi felt that his own Pi family had been absolutely right to submit to Wei Zhao! Who among these cultivators could guarantee they would never be injured? With Wei Zhao around, it was as good as having a mobile sanatorium—healing on the spot, a direct guarantee of life itself!
Besides, this was only one small ability Wei Zhao had revealed. Old Master Pi reckoned Wei Zhao had many more tricks up his sleeve. At the Hidden Aristocratic Families' Grand Gathering, Old Master Pi had already sensed that Wei Zhao was no ordinary man—otherwise he could never have won so many matches in a row.
"Done." Just as Old Master Pi was lost in his wild imaginings, a single word from Wei Zhao yanked his thoughts back to reality. But the next moment Old Master Pi was dumbstruck again! Done already? Wu Chengtian's injuries had looked severe, but after all, Old Master Pi knew nothing about them—he had never examined them himself.
But how serious his own injuries were, he knew perfectly well. Frankly speaking, if they healed badly, he would be crippled for life—and yet Wei Zhao had cured him in such a short time? Old Master Pi hastily examined his own injuries, and sure enough, just as Wei Zhao had said, they were truly healed—not a trace remained!
"Truly healed?" It took Old Master Pi quite a while to react, and he was both astonished and delighted.
"Old Pi, I told you the boss could heal our injuries for sure—you never quite believed it, and now I suppose you do?" Wu Chengtian had by now adjusted to his own recovery and was off to the side, practicing and verifying some of the external martial techniques Old Master Pi had taught him earlier.
"Indeed—you really have to experience it yourself to know how wondrous Mr. Lin's medical skill is!" Old Master Pi said with feeling. "It seems my understanding has been a little narrow!"
As they were talking, Pi Zhishan returned, and behind him followed Old Master Wu Gonggao. Catching sight of Wei Zhao, Wu Gonggao looked somewhat embarrassed.
Back when Wei Zhao had fallen on hard times—when Gu Pengzhan had his car accident—Wu Gonggao had, in most snobbish fashion, drawn a line between himself and Wu Chengtian, cut off his allowance, and told him not to associate with Wei Zhao anymore. If not for Wu Chengtian's stubbornness, which left Wu Gonggao with no recourse, the Wu family and Wei Zhao would long ago have broken off all ties.
It was rather like what had happened with the Sun family's old master. Sun Jingyan had sunk to quite a low point at the time: she and Wu Chengtian had just sold their company, and her bank accounts had been frozen by her family...
"Mr. Lin..." Wu Gonggao gave an obsequious laugh, not quite daring to look Wei Zhao in the eye.
He had gone to the hotel earlier to look after Pi Zhihai. Old Master Pi spent every day instructing his grandson in martial arts, so Wu Gonggao, having nothing to do, had volunteered to go to the hotel.
Wei Zhao nodded to him. He was Wu Chengtian's grandfather, after all, so Wei Zhao could hardly say much. Wu Chengtian had been utterly loyal to him, and Wu Gonggao had merely been looking out for himself, so Wei Zhao did not take it too much to heart. "Old Master Wu, Chengtian has fully recovered. Go and have a word with him first—I'll take a look at Pi Zhihai's injuries."
"All right." Wu Gonggao answered with some embarrassment, then lowered his head and went off to see his grandson.
Seeing his grandfather in that state, Wu Chengtian felt both exasperated and amused. But the man was his grandfather after all, and the one who had treated him best within the family, so Wu Chengtian could not very well turn sulky with him. He only said, "Grandfather, you see it now, don't you? My choice was the right one. Don't let the surface of things deceive your eyes."
"Chengtian, you're right. Your grandfather is old and can no longer see things clearly..." Wu Gonggao sighed. "The secular Wu family will have to rely on you from now on. I know the position of family head cannot hold you—given the pace at which you're advancing at Mr. Lin's side, sooner or later you'll reach the Heaven-rank, or even higher. I only hope that after I'm gone, you'll look after Wu Chendi a little more. The boy has some cleverness and a rather dark streak, but in the end your grandfather still has to put him in the position of family head..."
"I understand. Rest easy, Grandfather—I'll look after my brother in the future." Wu Chengtian nodded. In truth, the Wu family headship meant nothing to him anymore; his sights were set far beyond the secular aristocratic families.
Over on Wei Zhao's side, he had already begun healing Pi Zhihai. In fact, Pi Zhihai's condition could hardly even be called an injury—it was simply that true qi from the Gale-Thunder Violet Lightning Beast had been forced into his body. That true qi was in fact much like the true qi within Wei Zhao's own body: both belonged to the category of exceedingly pure heaven-and-earth spiritual energy. The difference was that Pi Zhihai was not an internal-school cultivator and could not refine the true qi within him; and even an internal-school cultivator would have to absorb true qi through the qihai acupoint—true qi forcibly driven into the body like this could not be refined either!
This was a fine trick for making trouble, Wei Zhao thought to himself. He had no idea how the Gale-Thunder Violet Lightning Beast managed it—that a spirit beast could transmit such pure true qi into a person, while Wei Zhao himself could not. Wei Zhao could only use the Xuanyuan Dragon-Taming Art to automatically generate and output true qi matching whatever cultivation method the recipient practiced, in accordance with the recipient's needs. Moreover, except when transmitting true qi to a special kind of spirit beast, where the other party did not need to circulate any internal-energy formulas, transmitting true qi to anyone else required that person to circulate the formulas used in internal-school cultivation—otherwise it could only heal injuries! If the other party did not circulate those cultivation formulas, Wei Zhao was utterly helpless.
