Chapter 17 — The Spirit Embryo Breaks the Barrier, Revealing the Demon Body

His consciousness dove deeper. The mansion was like an ocean of light, radiance flooding every corner, a fairyland. Nourished by the glow, his consciousness felt utterly comfortable.

He flew through this golden sea of light for what seemed an age, yet found nothing.

"Isn't this supposed to be the Spirit Soul Divine Mansion? Why is there nothing inside? Did some god take back the treasures meant for me?"

Shen Mu was baffled. The mansion was open, so where was the divine treasure?

Suddenly, he saw a stone statue within the sea of light, standing alone, strangely out of place.

"Why would a stone statue be inside the Spirit Soul Divine Mansion? Could this be the divine treasure?"

Surprised, Shen Mu's consciousness danced around the statue, examining it from top to bottom. Only then did he notice something strange: the "stone statue" was an illusion—it was not carved from stone at all. It was like jade yet not jade, like stone yet not stone, translucent and lustrous, and yet somehow soft to the touch.

Strangest of all, the "statue" bore a distinct resemblance to him—though more like Shen Mu as a baby of two or three years old!

"Is there a statue of me inside my Spirit Soul Divine Mansion? Did a god learn my features and carve my likeness, hiding it within my mansion?"

Shen Mu was bewildered. His consciousness gently touched the statue—and abruptly, his consciousness flowed irresistibly into it!
