Chapter 659 — The Youth's Big-Eyed Monsters
The Herdsman of the Wasteland Page 1 of 3
"How on earth is the Heavenly Palace to be healed?
" Shen Mu had healed the wounds of the Primogenitor's mortal body, then spent another two days tending to his divine treasures, planting and cultivating whatever spirit medicines were lacking. Yet though the Primogenitor's flesh had recovered, his complexion only worsened, and he lapsed into unconsciousness again and again. This was because the injuries to his primordial spirit and to his Heavenly Palace were too severe. Faced with the damage to the Primogenitor's primordial spirit and Heavenly Palace, Shen Mu was at a loss.
The medical arts and the way of medicine the Pill Master had taught him could heal experts of the Divine Bridge realm, or those who had never stepped through the Southern Heavenly Gate, but injuries to the Heavenly Palace of the Divine realm were uncharted territory even for the Pill Master.
Moreover, the silver needles could no longer reach into the Heavenly Palace, and how to guide the medicinal power there had become a formidable problem.
Steaming or boiling was out of the question as well, for nothing could seep through to the Heavenly Palace; and as for swallowing the elixirs, there was no way to send their power straight to the Heavenly Palace either. The Primogenitor's primordial spirit was no longer within the Primal Embryo Divine Treasure but dwelling in the Heavenly Palace. Judging by his cultivation, he had most likely reached the God-Slaying Platform or even the Jade Capital realm; only by entering the Primogenitor's Heavenly Palace could one know his exact cultivation.
The state of the Primogenitor's primordial spirit was utterly wretched. He could not release it for Shen Mu to treat; to heal him, one would have to enter the Heavenly Palace. "I can still turn into a shadow and invade, enter his divine treasures and guide the power of the medicine to help heal him, but the Southern Heavenly Gate, I cannot get through it! " Shen Mu paced around the Primogenitor, calculating carefully.
The Southern Heavenly Gate was a pass of the utmost importance, the checkpoint where a god advanced from false god to true god; only a primordial spirit possessing the power of a true god could enter. For all the wondrous arts contained in the Great Nurturing Dark Demon Scripture, no matter how exquisite the art, it must still obey one fundamental principle: the realm of one's cultivation. Shen Mu's cultivation was far from the level required to enter the Southern Heavenly Gate! The Primogenitor Human Emperor sank into unconsciousness again, and this time, whatever dream held him, he would not stop talking in his sleep.
"I am guilty. .
. " "I will run no more.
. . " "I have come to atone.
. .
" "I am sorry.
. .
" Shen Mu frowned.
Such a coma was an exceedingly bad sign; it meant the Primogenitor's primordial spirit had begun to collapse.
There was no more time to delay.
The power of the medicine must be delivered to the Heavenly Palace as quickly as possible!
"The Southern Heavenly Gate, I cannot pass it, but there are things that can!
" Shen Mu swiftly refined pills to heal injuries of the primordial spirit, refining more and more of them, and at last gathered all these elixirs up and said to Ling Yuxiu, "Sister Xiu, I am going to heal the Primogenitor's wounds. You stay here, and be sure to beware of Chi Xi! " Ling Yuxiu clutched the box in alarm and nodded hard.
Shen Mu's body suddenly became a shadow and burrowed into the Primogenitor Human Emperor's brow.
He sped past the Spirit Embryo, Five Luminaries, Six Harmonies and other divine treasures, and after a long while he finally arrived at the Divine Bridge Divine Treasure. He stood upon the Primogenitor Human Emperor's Divine Bridge. The bridge shone with rainbow radiance, and beneath it the divine treasures lay stacked and interlocked: the Five Luminaries and Seven Stars, the Six Harmonies and Heaven and Man; and below the Six Harmonies lay the pitch-black Youdu, where the Life and Death Divine Treasure was. Shen Mu steadied himself and walked along the bridge toward its far end, where the Primogenitor's Heavenly Palace lay.
When he reached the middle of the bridge he could not help but start: the Primogenitor Human Emperor's Divine Bridge was wholly connected, unbroken!
The divine bridges of Jingping Kingdom's divine-ability practitioners were all broken. Even with the Magpie Bridge Art, the Mystic Guidance Art, and the Divine Crossing Art, a portion of the bridge remained unjoined, and so in the end one had to use the Divine Crossing Art to fly across and reach the far shore. But the Primogenitor's bridge was joined completely, unbroken.
"Of course. He is like me, born of the Kaihuang bloodline. Our divine bridges were never severed. " Shen Mu walked on, and after a long time he came to the end of the Divine Bridge.
He raised his head.
The Southern Heavenly Gate towered amid drifting clouds and mist, majestic and vast, steeped in the weariness of ages. This Southern Heavenly Gate was the portal of the Heavenly Palace.
The clouds around it spontaneously formed the shapes of runes, ram horns, kui dragons, Vermilion Birds, Black Tortoises, phoenixes, along with wondrous cloud patterns of thunder and wind. A single gate brought Shen Mu an unmatched pressure, heavy beyond measure. To enter this portal, if one could not withstand it, one's primordial spirit would scatter!
Shen Mu steadied his mind, took out the Taotie Sack, rummaged about, and drew from it two jade eyes.
The Taiyin Jade Eye and the Taiyang Jade Eye. Shen Mu pondered a moment, then abruptly gritted his teeth and roused the Myriad Gods Natural Art, attempting to bestow sentience upon the two jade eyes!
His attainment in the Myriad Gods Natural Art was not high; he had only dabbled in it, and he was not sure whether the bestowal of spirit would succeed. He waited a long while, and the two jade eyes still gave no sign of life.
Shen Mu frowned slightly and was about to use the Myriad Gods Natural Art again when suddenly, with two pops, the Taiyin Jade Eye sprouted two thin legs from beneath its big eyeball, and with two more pops, two slender arms grew from the eye. It stretched lazily and cried, "I was suffocating! Brother, brother, don't keep it bottled up till you burst! " Shen Mu was dumbfounded, and then the Taiyang Jade Eye beside it began to snicker and chortle, its two long thin arms clutching its big eyeball as it rolled on the ground with laughter.
The Taiyin Jade Eye laughed itself silly too, kneeling on the ground and pounding the earth madly with its little arms: "He thought we hadn't woken up, and he was going to wake us again!
" The two big eyeballs rolled about on the ground again. Shen Mu's face darkened.
"All right, enough, stop laughing.
. .
laugh any more and I will beat you back to your original forms! " The two jade eyes hastily shut their mouths and stood up straight on their thin arms and legs.
The Taiyin Jade Eye said, "I think our legs are a bit too thin. I keep worrying they will snap. " The Taiyang Jade Eye's big eyeball drooped, trying to look at its own legs, but how could it possibly see them? Rumble. The Taiyang Jade Eye rolled away, rolling a dozen or more times before it stopped. The Taiyin Jade Eye was beside itself with glee, laughing so hard it dropped to its knees and pounded the ground!
Shen Mu's hand trembled as he savagely plucked out two of his own beard hairs and shouted, "Have you had enough of this nonsense? I called your spirits forth, not to watch you clown around! " The two jade eyes hurriedly stood together again and listened to their scolding meekly. Shen Mu took out the elixirs he had refined, wrapped them into a big bundle, and said, "Once you go through the gate, keep walking straight ahead. Carry these elixirs to where the Primogenitor's primordial spirit is, and then dissolve their medicinal power.
