Chapter 147 — The Long-Awaited...
Years of Heartflutter Page 308 of 501
"Did you see clearly — was it Song B88888 or Song B88B88?" Liu Chan asked his son.
"Ah? There's also 88B88? I was wondering why that middle 8 looked a bit deformed. I thought it was the streetlight flickering." Liu Cha didn't know the origin of the car, so he wasn't particularly nervous.
But Liu Chan, upon hearing his son's words, nearly collapsed to the ground. What kind of game was this? Someone even Bao Lin feared — and he'd gone and provoked him? Wasn't that courting death? His own son had competed with the man's younger brother over a girlfriend — truly, he had a death wish.
"You... you are Mr. Yang Ce?" Liu Chan probed tentatively, how he wished the person before him would say no.
"You know me?" Yang Ce frowned. He didn't recognize this fellow before him at all.
Liu Chan hadn't expected his premonition to come true. The person before him really was Yang Ce. Didn't that mean that if he angered him any further, he wouldn't be able to protect himself?
At that thought, Liu Chan wanted to grab his son and flee, but it was only a fleeting impulse, immediately rejected. If he just left like this, Yang Ce would certainly inquire about his background from Shen Zhiguo, and by then he could still track him down. When that time came, crushing him to death would be no different from pinching an ant.
So rather than that, it was better to honestly admit his mistake — perhaps he could earn Yang Ce's forgiveness. So he hurriedly said respectfully, "Mr. Yang, my name is Liu Chan. I'm the vice president of Heaven's Fairyland, Boss Guo's assistant."
"Guo Jianchao?" Yang Ce glanced at Liu Chan and asked with some suspicion.
"Yes!" Liu Chan nodded hurriedly. After Yang Ce uttered Guo Jianchao's name, he was even more certain: "Mr. Yang, just now my worthless son didn't know the rules and gave great offense. I hope you, with your magnanimity, will be understanding."
"All right, I understand. You can go." Yang Ce waved his hand. After all, this fellow was Guo Jianchao's subordinate; he couldn't very well overstep his bounds.
"Thank you, Mr. Yang, thank you, Mr. Yang!" Liu Chan felt as if granted a great pardon. He glanced again at his son Liu Cha, who stood beside him at a loss, and scolded, "Hurry up and apologize to Mr. Yang and Mr. Yang's younger brother!"

933. The Mysterious Investigator
933 The Mysterious Investigator Shen Zhiguo watched Yang Ce's BMW X5 drive off into the distance, his emotions difficult to settle for a long time. Looking again at that shocking license plate on the BMW, he didn't know what feeling it was in his heart.
He hadn't expected his daughter's boyfriend's family to have such lineage. Previously, Shen Zhiguo had thought his daughter's boyfriend came from an ordinary family. Though he didn't interfere with his daughter outwardly, in his heart he was still somewhat dissatisfied.
But now, that Liu Chan — who had originally seemed so arrogant in his eyes, so influential in Songjiang — was groveling and fawning before his daughter's boyfriend. His son had been beaten, yet he still had to apologize to them.
Although he didn't know exactly what Yang Ce did, his background was surely anything but simple.
At Yang Xiaobo's age, though he also felt his big brother was impressive, in his eyes he was far from understanding the true weight of what had just happened.
It could be said that Liu Chan was already a top-tier figure in Songjiang society, yet before Yang Ce he didn't dare let out even a fart.
Yang Xiaobo and Shen Hua hadn't noticed Yang Ce's license plate when they got in the car earlier; only after Yang Ce drove away did the two of them notice.
"Xiaobo, what exactly does your brother do? His license plate..." Shen Hua asked Yang Xiaobo in a low voice.
"Heh heh, how about it, I was pretty impressive just now, right? Gave that Liu Cha a panda eye!" Yang Xiaobo was still immersed in the adrenaline rush of the earlier fight.
"It was only because your big brother arrived in time." Shen Hua naturally didn't indulge Yang Xiaobo's bragging: "Don't be so impulsive in the future. If your big brother hadn't cowed them this time, who knows what would have happened."
Though the two bottles of liquor had shattered, Shen Zhiguo didn't feel the least bit distressed. He suddenly realized that perhaps his opportunity had come. He had long been troubled that his assets had stopped growing at forty million, increasing only a few million slowly each year. Now it seemed that Yang Xiaobo's big brother was so resourceful — if he could give him a boost... Of course, all that was for later. Shen Zhiguo smiled and welcomed Yang Xiaobo into the villa. He believed that after the scene just now, Shen Zhiguo would absolutely not make things difficult for Yang Xiaobo.
"Why did you start hitting people the moment you got there?" Chen Shutang had some criticism for Yang Ce resorting to violence without a word.
"He insulted my dad. How could I not hit him?" Yang Ce said somewhat angrily.
"He insulted you? How did he insult you? Wasn't he cursing your brother the whole time?" Chen Shutang asked, puzzled.
"He insulted my brother's second paternal uncle. My brother's second paternal uncle is my dad. You tell me if I shouldn't beat him," Yang Ce explained.
Chen Shutang was speechless, thinking, this guy really suffered an undeserved calamity — inadvertently cursing Yang Ce himself.
Going to Chen Shutang's home was naturally a familiar route; Yang Ce had been there many times. He parked the car in the residential compound and went upstairs with Chen Shutang.
The one who opened the door for them was Chen Shutang's mother. Yang Ce said, "Hello, Auntie Chen." Chen Shutang asked, "Mom, where's Dad?"
"We have guests at home. Your father is entertaining them in the study," Mother Chen explained.
"Ah, guests?" Chen Shutang was taken aback. She had originally intended for Yang Ce to come for a simple meal, but hadn't expected guests at home.
Yang Ce had the same thought as Chen Shutang. Since Chen Fei was receiving guests, there was no need for him to stay. He would visit another day when Chen Fei was free.
"Auntie Chen, since Uncle Chen has guests, I'll head back first. I'll come visit another day," Yang Ce said politely.
"Yang Ce, your Uncle Chen said you're not to leave," Mother Chen said hurriedly upon hearing this. "Wait here, I'll go call your Uncle Chen. Old Chen! Yang Ce is here!"
After Mother Chen's shout, it wasn't long before the study door opened. Chen Fei walked out first, and behind him followed a young man of about thirty, very refined in appearance, wearing a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, giving off the impression of an intellectual.
But after Yang Ce took one look at him, he felt somewhat uncomfortable. This person seemed to be very deep and calculating.
"Yang Ce, you're here—sit down, quick. No need to stand on ceremony in Uncle Chen's house." Chen Fei greeted him with a smile.
The young man in gold-rimmed glasses froze at the name "Yang Ce," his gaze snapping onto Yang Juehuan. "So you're Yang Ce."
Yang Ce looked up, studying the young man in gold-rimmed glasses with some puzzlement. He did not know him, yet the man had asked straight off whether he was Yang Ce—plainly abrupt. But since he was Chen Fei's guest, Yang Shuoxuan could not be rude. "I am Yang Ce. And you are?"
"Yang Ce, let me introduce you—this is a friend of mine—" Chen Fei had barely gotten half the sentence out before the young man in gold-rimmed glasses cut him off.
"Old Chen, why don't you let Yan and me talk alone." The young man in gold-rimmed glasses gestured at Chen Fei, then spoke.
Chen Fei had no idea why his old friend wanted to see Yang Ce. Anxious for Yang Ce's sake, he nonetheless could not ask—discipline forbade it. Though even if he had asked, he likely would have gotten no answer.
