Chapter 1405 — Teach Him a Lesson
"Him? Then have him come in." Prompted by Li Cihua's words, Zhao Qibing too recalled such a person, and nodded, telling Su Jiaonang to fetch him.
Su Jiaonang murmured an acknowledgment, left the room, and a moment later came back with Zhao Fafa in tow. Seeing it was indeed him, Zhao Qibing nodded. "Zhao Fafa - what brings you here?"
"Cousin! I've been bullied! Haven't I come straight to you for help?" Zhao Fafa wasted no breath, stating his purpose head-on.
"You've been bullied? By whom?" Zhao Qibing frowned. "What exactly happened?"
"It's like this: my father has gone into partnership with you, Cousin, hasn't he? He's made a good deal of money lately and bought a villa in the compound. I spotted a little number there and wanted to make a play for her, but her boyfriend caught wind of it, and so..." Zhao Fafa recounted his clash with Wei Zhao from beginning to end, though he never let slip the names of Wei Zhao or Tang Yun. In his eyes they were nobodies - Zhao Qibing could never have heard of them - so he left the names out altogether.
"Oh? What's this kid's background?" Listening to Zhao Fafa's sordid little mess, Zhao Qibing thought the fellow was beneath contempt: couldn't even land a girl, and still came crying for help - truly pitiful. Had Zhao Guangsi and the Zhao family not been doing business together of late, Zhao Qibing couldn't be bothered with such a relative dropped out of God knows where!
"No real background that I know of - just a second-generation rich kid. He goes around in a Bentley, but of course nothing like you, Cousin!" Zhao Fafa said.
"Still, you say this kid knows how to fight, and not one of your little street toughs was his match. An ordinary man won't do you any good; to teach him a lesson we'd have to send a cultivator." Zhao Qibing paused. "But mobilizing a cultivator over such a trifle - isn't that rather overkill?"
"Not overkill at all! Cousin, this is our Zhao family's chance to make a name. I threw your name at him once before, and he said he'd never heard of you - didn't know who you were!" Zhao Fafa, heaping oil and vinegar on the fire, began to spin his tale. "Look at that - infuriating! What manner of trash is he, not even knowing your great name, Cousin!"
"Hmm... I come out of a hidden aristocratic family; I keep a low profile, so it is only natural that no one knows my name. Besides, those who do know me are the notables of Songshan City - stray cats and dogs of that sort naturally would not." Zhao Qibing said as much, yet inwardly he was vexed. Boss Zhu's overtures over the past two days had swelled his confidence, and hearing that someone looked down on him was hardly pleasant. "In that case, let Uncle Zhu go with you. Uncle Zhu, your wounds have only just healed - how about going out to stretch your legs?"
"No problem. Whatever Young Master Bing says, I shall go out for a bit of exercise." So spoke Uncle Zhu when he had heard. In truth he had grown a shade bored these past weeks and would not have minded loosening his muscles and bones - though teaching a young master who knew a few tricks of martial arts was something of a waste of the trip.
"Thank you, Cousin!" Of late Zhao Fafa had learned from his father certain secrets about the great families: within them dwelt cultivators, and even the lowest, Huang-tier cultivators could scale walls and leap across rooftops, could shatter great boulders with a single fist - a truly formidable kind of being!
And Uncle Zhu was plainly such a cultivator. Zhao Fafa did not yet know his rank, but in his eyes Wei Zhao was already a dead man. To cross a cultivator was nothing but an old man helping himself to arsenic - courting death!
"Keep your thanks." Zhao Qibing waved a hand. "Since you say you are one of the Zhao family, do good work for me from now on and we can talk about anything. There you have it: Uncle Zhu was once a Xuan-tier cultivator. He took an injury and lost some of his strength, but he remains a first-rate Huang-tier hand. Handling a lad with a bit of skill will be child's play."
"That's incredible! Thank you, Cousin - thank you, Uncle Zhu!" Joy burst across Zhao Fafa's brows, and he thanked them again and again.
Out of the Geili Fuyun Bar, Zhao Fafa's heart sang. With a Yellow-tier master holding down the fort beside him, what did he have to fear from Wei Zhao? He did not linger, but drove straight to his own compound with Uncle Zhu. He knew Tang Yun's address to the last detail, and went straight to her door with Uncle Zhu in tow.
Tang Yun had only just come home from school when knocking sounded at the door.
Her mother was puzzled. Who would come calling this late? True, she had come to know a number of people in the compound of late, but none so well that they visited back and forth; the only family that did was Xiaofen's - and Xiaofen's household knew Tang Yun had to study in the evenings, so they would not knock at this hour.
"Who is it?" Tang Yun's mother asked.
"Property management - here to check the meter!" Knowing full well that if he announced he had come for revenge the woman would never open the door, Zhao Fafa passed himself off as one of the property staff.
The mother was off her guard - after all, security in the compound was decent, and the guards checked anyone who was not a resident. So she opened the door without hesitation, and Zhao Fafa strode straight across the threshold.
"You... what do you want?" She started, staring at Zhao Fafa as he stepped in. He looked nothing like anyone from the property company come to read a meter. And behind him stood Uncle Zhu like a door-god of a bodyguard, cold-faced, planted at Zhao Fafa's side!
"Where's your daughter?" Zhao Fafa asked, looking at the mother.
"You... you want Yun'er?" Not knowing who Zhao Fafa was, she shrank back a little. "What do you want with her?"
"Call her out!" With Uncle Zhu at his side, Zhao Fafa was thoroughly emboldened. He snorted. "And be quick about it - unless you want me to stop being polite and tear your house down!"
In her room, Tang Yun had caught the sound of quarreling in the living room and hurried out - only to find Zhao Fafa inside her home. She frowned at once. "It's you?"
"Tang Yun - where's your boyfriend? Fetch him here so he can meet his end! Son of a bitch - last time he dared to slap me down, dared to put me in my place. This time I'll show him what he's in for!" Seeing Tang Yun appear, Zhao Fafa was in no hurry to tease her. His main purpose in coming was to break Wei Zhao; once Wei Zhao was subdued, sweeping Tang Yun off her feet would be as easy as lifting a finger.
"He isn't here. What do you want with him?" Tang Yun glanced at Uncle Zhu standing beside Zhao Fafa. She did not know the man, but one look at his face told her he was here to back Zhao Fafa - and he meant trouble.
