Chapter 237 — The Land That Must Not Be Entered

They had followed the relics because it was the only path of life — the only way into Wuyou Township. Beyond this route, all was forbidden ground!

Looking with the Nine Heavens Sacred Pupil, Shen Mu could see only faint threads of light rising in the forest, exceedingly perilous; but what these wards actually were, he could not make out.

These wards held great peril; by comparison, following the relics was relatively safe. Shen Mu kept gazing, and then he saw several faint threads of light burst from one of the relics, more than three hundred li away, but not far from the end of the forest.

Shen Mu's vital essence surged; he took down the jade pendant from the barrier, urged the Soul Boat forward, and stepped into the barrier.

Hum.

A faint tremor passed through him, as though he had crossed from one world into another; the Wasteland shrouded in darkness behind him vanished at once, and when Shen Mu turned to look back, he could see nothing at all.

Just then, bursts of strange laughter suddenly rang out, and countless monsters clinging to the hull of the Soul Boat sprang up and leaped down from it, surging toward that forest like a tide.

A demon god soared into the air — two heads, five tails, eight long legs and feet, each foot shaped like a human palm — racing through the air as if flying, and shrieked in Sanskrit, "Hala-krila — kill! " The Dutian Demon King was startled; he had never expected so many monsters to have hidden themselves aboard the boat under cover of darkness.

The demon god turned back and grinned at Shen Mu on the boat: "Wear through iron shoes in search of it and find it nowhere; yet it comes without the slightest effort!

We have long wished to enter Wuyou Township — and we must thank you for leading the way! " This demon god was the very one Shen Mu and the Headman had encountered when they entered the Realm of the Living Dead; after they met the Dawn Boat at Jianglong City, it was this same demon god who had tempted Shen Mu in the darkness, luring him in and trying to carry him off.

Clearly, this demon god had hidden aboard the Soul Boat long ago, waiting for the moment.

She seemed to have foreseen that Shen Mu would surely re-enter the Realm of the Living Dead and use the Soul Boat to return to Wuyou Township.

And now, at last, she had her way. "Children, take this last pure land!

From now on, this world is ours! " The demon god screeched and, with a sky-blotting horde of monsters, surged toward the far side of the forest.

Shen Mu's face was expressionless; his gaze rested on these heavenly demons. Suddenly an obscure ripple came from the forest, and the tens of thousands of heavenly demons that had poured into it melted away, flesh and bone, leaving only skins, which the wind blew into scattering ash.

The demon god too rushed into the air above the forest, and at once charged back out, shrieking, "Sapbolomi!

" A vast vortex appeared and swallowed the demon god. Shen Mu had seen this trick before: when she fought the Headman, the demon god had created an Other Shore space and dragged the Headman into it, trying to trap him, only to fall in together with him.

Now she used it not to trap anyone, but to enter the Other Shore herself and escape the perils of the forest! At that moment a ball of fire rose in the forest; from the firelight a beam shot out, piercing deep into that space.

In the sky a thread of blood flowed out; then the demon god's corpse appeared in the sky, fell, crashed into the forest, and at once became ash.

On the Soul Boat, the Dutian Demon King was silent as a cicada in winter, body and mind chilled through: "This damned world — is there any need for it to be this dangerous?

" In Shen Mu's eyes the pure white moonlight drifted like smoke and cloud; his voice rumbled as he murmured to himself: "Your deaths have confirmed my thinking.

This forbidden zone was not made to guard against outside enemies, but to keep the people of Wuyou Township from getting out!

It is a forbidden zone left behind by the existence that destroyed the Wasteland.

" The second update comes in ten minutes!
