Chapter 627 — The Venerable Brahma Heaven King Buddha
The Herdsman of the Wasteland Page 1 of 3
A cool breeze drifted through Mituo Temple, and the Buddhas at the summit gazed toward the distant cliff wall that had been blasted into being.
Dharma King Molun had meant to raise a hand to stop it, but the fight was already over. Shen Mu's hands had flipped again and again; the Yin-Yang Heaven-Overturning Hand moved so swiftly that Molun had barely made to intervene before Shen Mu had already stopped, and he could only lower his hand. The Buddha Ancestors of the other heavens showed astonishment, withdrew their gazes, and looked toward Shen Mu.
The Yin-Yang Heaven-Overturning Hand of the Three Ancestors, the Human Sovereign, was indeed a heaven-defying divine power; its burst of speed was so great that the eye could not follow it, leaving no time to react at all.
The hand-seal Shen Mu had just performed was truly faster than turning the pages of a book! Suddenly, the cliff several dozen li away collapsed, the cliff face split, and boulders fell, striking the ground only after a long while with dull, heavy booms.
Shen Mu's blows just now had been too fast and too fierce; what had once been a hilltop had been hammered by him into a cliff face.
Now the cliff was caving in because the rock had been beaten soft and crumbly by his Yin-Yang Heaven-Overturning Hand. Yet despite the collapse of the cliff, the Crown Prince of Moonlight did not appear. Monk Chenghuai was uneasy, and whispered into Shen Mu's ear: "Brother Shen, did you beat the man to death? " "Not dead.
" Shen Mu said in a low voice: "I held back.
I was afraid it would be hard to explain.
His cultivation is extremely strong — no weaker than the Great Venerable of the Loulan Golden Palace.
He is just not as quick-witted as the Great Venerable, so I used eighty percent of my strength and did not beat him to death, though most of his bones are broken. This Crown Prince of Moonlight really is strong; he made me dare not look down on the heroes of the world. " He showed a look of admiration. Monk Chenghuai's eyes went wide: "Eighty percent of your strength?
Dare not look down on the heroes of the world?
When Cult Master Shen is modest, he can infuriate a man to death without paying for the crime. It is lucky the Crown Prince of Moonlight is unconscious; otherwise he would be furious enough for his soul to scatter. " He did not know that Shen Mu was truly being modest, not putting on airs.
After all, Shen Mu was proud to the bone, convinced that he possessed a Tyrant Body. For an opponent to be able to match him, a Tyrant Body, he must have redoubled his efforts and spent no one knew how long in bitter cultivation to reach such a level. Such an opponent was naturally worthy of respect.
As for what others thought, he did not much care; in any case, that was what he thought.
Dharma King Molun beckoned, and the cliff several dozen li away burst open.
The Crown Prince of Moonlight, badly wounded and unconscious within the cliff, was borne slowly toward them on his Dharma power. As the Crown Prince of Moonlight landed, Dharma King Molun checked his injuries and his face darkened slightly: "Was Layman Shen not going to contest swordsmanship?
Why then did you use a hand-seal technique? There is something of a sneak attack in this. And to strike with such venom — is that the compassionate way of our Buddhist sect?
" Shen Mu looked at Chenghuai, and Monk Chenghuai hastily said: "When Brother Shen used the sword elixir just now, it was called the way of demons and heretics, so he did not dare to use the sword elixir and could only use the hand-seal. Buddha Ancestor, is this hand-seal also the way of demons and heretics? " Dharma King Molun did not answer.
It was he who had called Shen Mu's sword elixir the way of demons and heretics, yet the Crown Prince of Moonlight had wanted to compete with Shen Mu in swordsmanship. This time Shen Mu's hand-seal had been upright and proper; the Yin-Yang Heaven-Overturning Hand was at a glance an orthodox seal technique, and to call it the way of demons and heretics would make him a laughingstock.
Still, he was not entirely at ease. The Crown Prince of Moonlight was his descendant, an outstanding figure among the younger generation, and he had not had time to display his own skills before Shen Mu caught him off guard and beat him all the way, costing him and the Heavenly Court face.
Moonlight's strength was not weak; it was only that he had misjudged, thinking Shen Mu was saluting him, and had not defended. Had the Crown Prince of Moonlight been fully alert from the start, then judging by the strength Shen Mu had shown, it would still be hard to say who would win. Dharma King Molun looked toward the Buddha Ancestors of the other heavens and smiled: "Though the Buddhist sect of the lower realm is tucked away in a corner, its Buddhist powers have not fallen behind, which is admirable.
Brother Ancestors, they have come to seek learning and scriptures; we might as well give them what they ask.
" The Buddhas nodded and agreed. Dharma King Molun smiled at Shen Mu and the others: "My Moon Palace Son of Heaven treasury contains the Moon Palace scriptures, which cultivate the true Dharma of the Buddha.
In the Moon Palace scriptures there are three thousand Buddhist sutras. Since you cannot carry them away, you may stay in my Mituo Temple and study them well for a hundred years or so, and once you have comprehended them thoroughly, you may spread the Dharma in the lower realm. That too would count as a great merit of mine.
" Monk Chenghuai's expression changed slightly.
Three thousand Buddhist sutras, a hundred years of study, and moreover the Dharma of a true Buddha — this was plainly a hundred years of house arrest! Shen Mu said carelessly: "Does my Buddha have the imperial throne scriptures? If you transmit the Dharma, transmit the true Dharma; if you transmit scriptures, transmit the true scriptures. As for ordinary teachings, our Great Tingming Temple has them too.
" Dharma King Molun's face darkened slightly, and he sneered: "You look down on my Moon Palace scriptures? What poor manners!
That I grant you the Buddhist Dharma and charge you not a single coin of incense money is already compassion. Yet you pick and choose!
" Monk Chenghuai poked the motionless Xuanliao the Demon Ape, and Xuanliao the Demon Ape Zhankong stepped forward, his Brahma Silence Twelve-Ring Zen Staff clattering, and said: "Much, false. Little, true! " Dharma King Molun was startled, thinking the ape meant to debate the Dharma with him, and as he pondered the meaning of these four words, his head swelled three sizes.
Hariti King Buddha coughed once and said: "Dharma King, they have come seeking the true scriptures. Give them what they ask.
" Dharma King Molun sneered: "They have come for the Imperial Throne True Scripture.
Where would I have it?
The Imperial Throne True Scripture — even Emperor Shakra Heaven King Buddha does not possess it. Only the Brahma Heaven King Buddha has a copy. The Brahma Heaven King Buddha has always kept aloof from worldly affairs, and in tens of thousands of years has scarcely ever shown himself. In all my years in the Buddha realm I have never seen the true body and Dharma form of the Brahma Heaven King Buddha, much less the Imperial Throne True Scripture. That I bestow my Moon Palace scriptures on them and take not a single coin is already a great bargain for them. .
.
" What he said was also the truth, and no one could refute it. The Heavenly Court had been watching the Buddha realm for many years.
